Northside Outreach Volunteer Guide

This guide provides a general overview of the weekly outreach structure and important safety expectations.

Refer to the current Planning Center plan for exact times, locations, assignments, and weekly instructions.

Weekly Structure

Each week, volunteers generally:

  • Pick up and transport food, water, tables, and supplies.
  • Meet at the outreach location and set up together.
  • Distribute food and water.
  • Speak with guests respectfully.
  • Clean up, return supplies, and leave together.

Some positions require lifting and carrying cases of water, food containers, tables, or other supplies.

Safety

Always work in pairs. Do not travel, serve, or separate from the team alone. At the end, make sure everyone leaves together.
  • Stay with the team.
  • Remain aware of your surroundings.
  • Do not enter rooms, vehicles, or private spaces.
  • Do not share your phone number, home address, social media, or other personal contact information.
  • Avoid sharing your last name when it is not necessary.
  • Do not transport guests in your personal vehicle.
  • Do not physically intervene in conflicts.
  • Leave the area if a situation feels unsafe.
  • Call 911 for immediate danger or a medical emergency.

Serving Guests

  • Treat everyone with dignity, patience, and respect.
  • Maintain appropriate personal boundaries.
  • Do not make promises on behalf of the church.
